You should look for the booklet published by John McNish Weiss on -The Merikens: Free Black American Settlers in Trinidad 1815-16.- Mention is made of a William Hamilton (from the Fifth Company of Colonial Marines) coming from Georgia associated with a land grant plot in the settlement named Fifth Company in the area of Princes Town, Trinidad; there is mention there though of him being asociated with a James Hamilton. What is also interesting is that there are a few other black settlers associated with Pierce Butler. Both Pierce Butler and James Hamilton are noted in the booklet as coming from the Glynn, St. Simon's Island, Georgia area. GYD
