In Response To: [JAMAICA] STEWART ancestors ()
I found a jas. samuel stewart. Ethnicity:British Black Residence:Georgetown Demarara British Guiana. Ship of travel: Maraval. Arrived: 1924 new york city at Ellis Island. Age on arrival 29 years. Port of departure Georgetown Demara British Guiana. going to Brother Ed Stewart house in newyork city, address:240 West 62 street, new york, city. Father's name is Jas Stewart address 35 Fort St Kingston. Wife's name: Irene Matilda Stewart. occupation housewife. Age:33 years. wife's fathers name is T.M. Carrington, address:10 first street Albortown. go to www.ellisisland.org to view the documents. remember Guyana was also spelled Guiana, also the addresses of Jas father and Irene"s father is not in North America. Most likely in Guyana or some other island. check to see if these are your relatives. You can subtract the date that they arrived in America from their age and get their birth year. Some birth years are approximate because back then people were born in the house some time. If i find anymore Stewarts I will get back to you. It is easier to find people coming to America in research than people leaving America. The addresses of the parents can give you an idea of where they lived outside the united states of America.
