That was a VERY interesting website. Would have never occurred to me to look to Corsica as a surname root place for Saluche/Salich etc.

I have to slap myself and remember that all Puerto Rican roots are not just Spain and Africa - thanks to you I did some broader searches - and came up with Salich - in the Sudan, Canary Islands, Yugoslavia as well as the Corsican variations

And - in re-examining the PR census - think I found my husband's grand-uncle, Juan SALICH in Ponce. Will have to wait till he can call his oldest aunt for verification.
