I am researching the PICKERING family tree in UK
Having got back to the 1851 UK Census, I was surprised to find that this branch, who had settled in Lincolnshire UK now has a Jamaican link!
William PICKERING b about 1793, is listed on the 1851 census as being a British Subject born in Jamaica, West Indies. His occupation is agricultural labourer.
An initial search on familysearch for that name is negative. However there do appear to be PICKERINGs on Saint Lucy, Barbados at that time.
If anyone has knowledge of this surname or can enlighten me further as to further research I would be grateful. (A trip to Jamaica is out of my budget at the moment)
Thanks in anticipation!
