I am writing to you from not so warm England. It was so nice to hear from you and to receive your kind invitation. Shortly after I posted my enquiry back in August my computer stopped working and so I have been without access to the internet since then. It was only through the kindness of my life-long family friend Anne Marie that I learnt of your message and she kindly offered to post a response until I was next able to gain access to a computer.

I am glad to have the correct spelling of my Great Uncle Garbutt's name as I had only heard his name spoken by my father when naming his grandmother's siblings. To know that he is your grandfather has made him more real to me. Back in August when I posted my original message I knew it was such a long-shot and didn't really expect a response - instead I've struck gold!
