It is entirely possible that your family came from B'dos... but there are other islands that also have a British background. Can you get a bit more history on this? The Ellis Island idea is good; you can get alot of info about the passengers... but... Several of mine did not come through Ellis Island directly from B'dos, but from other islands and from England (tho they were born in B'dos and lived most of their lives there). If this is also true for your family, you may miss the ones you are looking for. And don't neglect researching the Barbados records that the LDS Library might have for your relatives. You may find that you need to do some of the research by mail or hire someone there to help. The Candoo website has addresses of repositories and lists of people for hire. It is critical that you make good connections between the group that came here and the ones that stayed behind. Good hunting!
