This is fascinating. My father is Carlyle Varlack (now resident in Jacksonville, Fl.) son of Gustavus and Lynda Varlack from Anegada. Grampa Gus was from Anegada, but moved to New York with Grama Lynda (from Grenada) and they raised their family there.

I would be interested to connect my father and his siblings with this post. They have tons of information. Another wellspring of knowledge is Dr. Pearl Varlack from St. Thomas, now retired from the University of the Virgin Islands.

I can rest easy knowing now where the Varlack name comes from. I've heard there is a family in the Sechelle islands who has the same name spelled differently - Varlaque.
