AfriGeneas Caribbean Research Forum
Thanks to Alva Griffith for her efforts in establishing this Forum, inviting me to lurk, and her kind posting about me. Caribbean research is difficult as it is and having this forum certainly adds a new and valuable resource.
I want to urge and remind all Caribbean genealogists to be sure to do all possible research outside the islands before trying to find their island ancestors. One must exhaust all records on the mainland before skipping across the water. Otherwise our research may only be that much more difficult. If we are to find the 'bones' of our genealogy, that is, who, when, where, and what, we need to constantly think in those terms when checking microfilms, books, databases, web sites, and even when we post our own data online. If I can answer general questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will try and check this Forum as often as I can, but being an archaeologist keeps me busy and unable to answer rapidly. Thank you again, Alva!
