In Response To: [JAMAICA] Disappointed with Registrar General's Dept. ()
Unfortunately, I am experiencing the same dissatisfaction with the Registrar General's office in Jamaica. My husband and I were married there in 1994 and have requested a copy of our marriage certificate to process an international adoption. I requested the marriage certificate on May 31, 2006 and still have not received it. I have made numerous calls to the RGD and sent several e-mails with no response. This is the only document we need to process our adoption, so you can imagine my anxiety!
I have read through all of the responses here and was able to contact Grace Allen-Young at the Ministry of Health. She did respond to my initial e-mail, but not to my second which was sent over a week ago. In response to my first e-mail to her, she sent me a cc of an e-mail she sent to Dr. Holness at the RGD telling them she expected an urgent response. I have also tried to reach Ms. Rosers with no success.
This is so frustrating! There is a child out there waiting for a home which we are unable to provide until we get our marriage certificate! I do have our original, but the adoption agency requires all documents to be certified within the last 6 months.
Can anyone offer any additional suggestions?
