I am doing family research on my Dad's family from Portland. My great great grandfather was named Richard Chance Burke from Fair Prospect and I believe he was originally from Scotland(?) He married my great great grandmother Louisa Battiest who was from Windsor Forest and I believe that she may have originally been from Africa(?)

On Richard Burke's death certificate it gives his year of death as 1931 and his age at time of death as 94. Richard and Louise had about seven children. The names that I have are Denton, Rispah, Knight, Alleyn, Plotia, Garbert and Agnes Sarah Burke - my great grandmother whom I believe was the eldest.

I would appreciate any further information on any other Burkes or Battists/Battiests and was wondering whether there might be any connection with our research.
