In Response To: The War of 1812 From a Canadian Point of View
(Lisa B. Lee) Darn it Lisa, you've done it again!!! A refresher ... The list of slaves, my ancestors, captured in Kentucky during the Rev. War (1780) and taken to Canada which includes Esther an ancestor of mine, given to your ancestor, William Lee.
These ancestors and their descendants remained in Canada until the period immediately prior to the outbreak of the War of 1812 and came into Ohio ca 1810-1812. I'm now wondering what the conditions were that allowed them to leave Canada and come to the United States at that time. An 1820 US Census record showing my ancestors Lewis Adams and Francis Reno in Champaign County, Urbana Township, Ohio and the structure (composition) of their families.
The 1864 Obituary/Memoir of 3rd great-grandmother, Rachel, the daughter of Kandis, one of the captured slaves on the 1780 listing. Rachel was the wife of Francis Reno/Reyno.
Lisa, thanks again ...... I think Cuz Art Messages In This Thread
