Darn it Lisa, you've done it again!!! As soon as I try to relax and lighten up on this genealogical journey of mine you come along and throw another log in the fire. The link and the reading list has rekindled my interest in the Canadian aspect of our "common' histories during the period leading up to the War of 1812.

A refresher ... The list of slaves, my ancestors, captured in Kentucky during the Rev. War (1780) and taken to Canada which includes Esther an ancestor of mine, given to your ancestor, William Lee.

These ancestors and their descendants remained in Canada until the period immediately prior to the outbreak of the War of 1812 and came into Ohio ca 1810-1812. I'm now wondering what the conditions were that allowed them to leave Canada and come to the United States at that time.

The 1864 Obituary/Memoir of 3rd great-grandmother, Rachel, the daughter of Kandis, one of the captured slaves on the 1780 listing. Rachel was the wife of Francis Reno/Reyno.
