(Art Thomas) Art; Then you probably haven't done any research in the Marsh Collection Society, then, huh? It's a great little genealogical library in Amherstburg, just across the street from Fort Malden. Several years ago, the archivist remembered I was looking for William Lee info, and she found some, years after my last visit there, and she sent it to me. I returned the favor and found the death place of her ggm, and I even found the home where she'd lived (I took a photo) along with the article in the local Sonoma, CA newspaper that had the death info. The URL for Marsh is below. One of my favorite resources, PaperOfRecord.com, was gobbled up by Google News Archive, which is a REAL shame, because now you can't find anything. PaperofRecord had digital images of the Provincial Freeman and the Voice of the Fugitive, two black Canadian newspapers. I think you can find Provincial Freeman on Godfrey, but only the years 1854-57, which is way too late for you. I'll let you know if I come up with anything else. But by all means, contact the folks at Marsh. They LOVE to help. - Lisa Messages In This Thread
