(Art Thomas) Art; I think I told you, years ago, that my grandfather's grandfather's grandfather, William Lee, got into a land dispute with Jacques Baby's (pronounced Bob-EE) brother and, in the end, William was booted off the land, even though he'd spent over a decade there and had cleared and improved the land. He fought this ruling, in court, for nearly a decade, and even though he was given 200 acres in nearby Harwich Township, he died before he was able to fulfill the requirements to claim the deed. His son, Peter Lee, died the following year from injuries he received during the War of 1812. All those names you mentioned ... they all had dealings with all the black folks in the area at the time (Malden Twp, now known as Amherstburg) ... each time I read them, they make my blood boil. Okay, Lisa, get over it. You can't change the past. I'm glad I was able to help you connect with your peeps. I stumbled upon this database quite by accident and it just blew me away. I particularly like the user database -- quite easy to use. Be well, cuz.
