Re: LUCAS/ RICHARDSON ONTARIO CANADA VIA USA
In Response To: Re: LUCAS/ RICHARDSON ONTARIO CANADA VIA USA (Shawn)
Shawn; Ancestry.ca (the Canadian version of Ancestry.com) has digital images of millions of Canadian vital records dating from 1869 thru about 1924. I found a marriage record for Thomas Coleman Lucas (son of Judson) in Dresden, Kent County Nov 11, 1875 to Mary Jane Van Dyke, and I also found his death record on Feb 28, 1925 in Dresden, as well. His death record states that he was born Mar 6, 1852 in Kentucky, the son of Jefferson Lucas, and died of heart disease and also had an enlarged prostate. His son, John, was the informant. My point is that if you're going to do research of your Ontario ancestors, it might be well worth the money to subscribe to ancestry.com's Canadian Records collection. They're gonna want you to buy the whole World Deluxe package (cha-ching), but don't buy it. You CAN get just the Canadian records collection (as an add on to the U.S. Deluxe package you probably already have). The collection of records at ancestry.ca is quite impressive and includes military records, obits, census records, border crossing records (these have been incredibly helpful to me), etc. Good luck in your search. - Lisa B.
