Re: Canada West census/ TOWNS family

Karren;

The person who had access to that microfilm had actually borrowed it from the FHC several years ago (2003) and it's doubtful that they still have that microfilm in their possession. The 1842 Canada West census is not available on any online database of which I'm aware.

That said, however, I've done a lookup in the 1861 census and have found two black Booth families ... one in Amherstburgh (near Detroit) and the other in Toronto, as follows:

City of Toronto, St. John's Ward, sheet 1189
BOOTH, George 56, b. USA, plasterer, Baptist
BOOTH, James 28, b. USA, carpenter, Baptist
BOOTH, Washington 26, b. USA, gardener, Baptist
BOOTH, Elmira 24, b. USA, seamstress, Baptist.

I do hope this may be helpful to you. However, you can always order that 1842 census microfilm to your own local Mormon FHC and do the search yourself.

Good luck in your search.
