I have been meaning to answer your request for some time. I have found lots of interesting sites that will be of interest to you and to anyone whose family lived in or near Canada.

I am just going to list the URL's for you browse through. Many are connected to the Underground Railroad. The ones I found the most interesting were about communities that sprung up independently of America.
