Re: OGS Land Books Project
In Response To: Re: OGS Land Books Project ()
My dear Art; I'd forgotten that our Canadian ancestors' paths had crossed. Duperon Baby's brother, Frances, cheated my ancestor, William Lee, out of his land that he'd been given by his former commanding officer, Henry Bird. You never know, maybe we're cousins afterall. Anyway, the land books are merely and INDEX of land records. The land records themselves are at the FHL and must be viewed for specific information. That said, I will do lookups and will report what I find. However, since William Lee was living in Malden Township (near Amherstburgh), and I have several books on Amherstburgh history that mention blacks, I'll also check them to see if I can find any of your ancestors. Gimme a day or so. Fingers are crossed and I hope I can find something that will help you. - Lisa B. Lee
