The 144th celebration of the Emancipation of Canadian Slaves will take place this weekend, August 4-6, 2006, in Owen Sound, Ontario.

The Emancipation Festival includes:
- Black Art Exhibit (July 28 - Aug 12)- Grey Roots Museum & Archives
- "Community, Roots & Culture - (Aug 4, 7pm - 9pm) - Perspectives" by the Grey Roots Museum & Archives
- Emancipation Celebration Picnic - (Aug 5, 1pm - 6pm) complete with "The Best Fish Fry this Side of the Atlantic"
- BME Church Gospel Benefit, "Through it All" - (Aug 6, 2pm - 3:30pm)
