I had to purchase the book directly from the author, Barry C. Noonan, and though the book cost me $70, it was some of the best money I've ever spent. I cannot begin to tell you how valuable this book has been over the years, and continues to be, as it serves as the only complete index of blacks in Ontario, New Brunswick and Quebec in 1861.
