Ancestry.com has just announced and released an every-name-index of the 1911 Canadian Census! This is BIG news and covers all 11 provinces. The only catch is that you have to subscribe to the Canadian Records Collection, which costs $99.95 CAN. I'm sure you know how confusing subscriptions can be at Ancestry.com and to partially alleviate this problem, they have stopped doing individual subscriptions, preferring to offer package deals.

Of course they want me to upgrade to the new "World Deluxe Package" in order to get this, but since I'm already paying over $200 for all the other databases (half of which I never use), I was able to convince them to cancel three of my databases then create a NEW USER ACCOUNT with just the Canadian Records collection. This will require me to logout from Ancestry and log back in to search just the Canadian records, but in the long run, it's going to save me over $100 per year.

* 1871 Census of Canada

* Ontario Marriage Index 1858-1899

* Ontario Birth Index 1869-1907

* Ontario Death Index 1869-1932

* Ontario & Nova Scotia Census Records 1800-1842

* Canadian Address & Phone Directories 1995-2002
