Can anyone recommend any sources for research during the mid-to-late 1860s in what is now BC and/or neighboring areas that might have been involved in one of the gold rushes in that area? I've read "Go Do Some Great Thing" by Crawford Kilian (and really enjoyed it) but Kilian's focus is a little different from mine -- I'm looking for black immigrants that probably went west to mine in of the gold rushes at a later time (@1864) and didn't stay in the area for more than 5-6 years.
In addition, I wondered if anyone has read or has access to the unpublished master's thesis "Negro Settlement in BC, 1858-1871" by James W. Pilton that Kilian relied upon in researching his book.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
