My GG-GFather was a Civil War vet. Serving in Co. C, 128th USCI. So I requested a copy his full pension file.
From that file I was able to find his last owner and where he was born. The last owner was a Frederick Fraser. My GFather was on Fraser's plantation in Walterboro, Colleton Co., SC. Where he was born. I was also able to find his father's name, the same Frederick Fraser.
If you are researching the low country of SC here are some names:
-Paul Jenkins- A childhood friend from age 10, so probaly they were on the same plantation. In 1887 he was living at Adams Run, Osborn, Colleton Co. SC.
-Joseph Berry- 2rd Sgt. Co. C, 128th- In 1887 he lived in Aiken, SC.
-Richard Smith- Pvt., 128th, in 1887 living in Yemassee, Beaufort Co. SC.
-Richard Boyd(USCT name), Richard Noville- Pvt., 128th, in 1888 living in Grahamsville, Beaufort Co.(now Jasper), SC.
