Thanks very much for the info. The information about the General Eaton is especially helpful. I've tried several approaches to gaining information about this ancester and finally thought it might be wise to try to verify the incident. I finally spoke with someone at NARA Atlanta about customhouse records - they have them for several ports for that period of time EXCEPT Charleston. The Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade Database has much info also. The General Eaton is listed in the database with Elizabeth Dunnan as a source - will search that out next.
