Thank you. That book has been my main source on the Lipscombs. I believe "my" Henry is John's son, for several reasons.

However, Helmer (the author) declines to include Henry's family, on the grounds that there was no official marriages.

So I have Henry documented back to 1633 in England. Poor Rebecca suddenly appears in 1787. Actually she doesn't even appear then. She doesn't appear until 1801 when she is emancipated. But she gave birth to children starting in 1787.

Between being a woman and being a slave, she is visible only by reflection.
