Re: Unable to document Civil War service

Hi, I believe that the fourth Uriah Wise listed on your message is your ancestor. Take a look at the 1900 Census Chambersburg Franklin, PA where Uriah Wise is listed as “Hugh R.” Wise then look at the PA Veteran information, which shows that Uriah Wise was married to Hannah Strange Berry (Wise). I believe that 1870, 1880, 1900 and 1910 Censuses along with the PA Veteran information confirm that they are the same person. Since both documents state that Hannah Wise was born in 1832 (July) per the 1900 Census. Uriah and Hannah were married for 32 years per the 1900 Census and they married September 1, 1867 per the PA Veteran’s information. The 1880 Census lists Uriah Wise’s family members as: wife Hannah, children Laura, Annie, Julia, Hattie, stepchildren Celia and Charles Berry. Does any of the paperwork from his military records confirm that they lived on Miller Street in Chambersburg Franklin, PA? Uriah Wise, US Soldier, Chambersburg, PA (Veterans Schedule) Birth: c. 1840 VA Parents: Alfred & Eliza
1900 Census Place: Chambersburg Ward 1, Franklin, PA; Roll: T623 1412; Page: 5B, they lived on lived on Miller Street, Chambersburg, PA. Hugh R Wise – (Day Laborer) I believe that this is Uriah Wise
Thanks, Debie
