Re: Silas and Benjamin West, Sampson Co., NC
In Response To: Re: Silas and Benjamin West, Sampson Co., NC ()
Georgia My brother participated in the WEST DNA Project. We matched 25 markers out of 25.. perfect DNA match. We were the only African Americans who have tested so far. We found that we have 5 sets cousins (White) whose ancestors originated in the Parishes from LA>KS>AR: SC>TN>MS>TX: VA>NC>GA,in NC: Cumberland, Harnett, Johnston Nash, Guilford, Sampson Counties to other parts of the State and US. We have not established this connection to the ancestors from the 1800's or before yet? There are still a lot of missing links. We have some of the immediate cousins, the proof of the connection is yet to be found. Our matches have been very kind and helpful or most of them. We are still looking for information. So far I have found a couple of Wills, 82 acres were deeded to my grandfather, Silas and his brother, Benjamin by one of the Slaveowner's son. But nothing more in print to my knowledge. So my next step when I get the time is to check the Estates and Returns of the slaveowners Inventory. I understand this is done after a persons death. But what area of the Courthouse would I look for that in a small town like Clinton, NC?
