Meanwhile, I've cleared up some of the available military data for soldiers and veterans named URIAH WISE. All documented Civil War soldiers with this name fought in the Union Army. No one with this name was a documented USCT soldier. My ancestor, African-American & possibly biracial, born c. 1840 in VA (wife Hannah), was counted as a "US Soldier" in the 1890 Veterans Schedule; but so far I've found no Civil War military record that matches what I know about him. I have yet to find personal or family information for the man who served in Co. H,G, 6th KS Cavalry.
