I am looking for my gg grandmother Bessie Iv(e)y's born abt. 1830 family. She married Essex Mathews born 1829, NC I don't have anything on either one after their birth. I am trying to find out if there were siblings. I know they had children and grandchildren and I have their names or some of them anyway. I am sure there are more. Some of the descendants names changed from Mathews to Mathis in later years. I assume the slaveowners were Mathews and Iv(e)y.

My grandfather's mother was Laura Mathews, b. 1875, a daughter, Hattie Mathews b. 1895 and my grandfather was Walter Mathis b. 1896. So therefore I have to look for Mathews/Mathis, Ivy/Ivey when researching this family.

My brickwall is Ivy/Ivey. I have nothing on either ancestors. Does anyone have Mathews/Mathis or Ivy /Ivey in their family from Duplin County, Rose Hill, NC?
