I am researching Martin Moore, who is listed in the 1880 Putnam Co. census, p. 584b. He is 9 years old and is living with his sister, Arancis (or Francis) Smith, wife of Lucius Smith. The family of Emanuel and Judy Moore are listed two households above, and may be the parents of Martin and Arancis. The census sheet lists the area in Putnam Co. as “374 Dist G M” and “Harrison”.
Martin is said to be the son of a freed slave, and to have married Mary Willie Walton near the city of Godfrey, or Eatonton, about 1889. Martin and Mary had 3 children in Georgia, Lillie, Thomas and Bennie, before moving to Mississippi around 1900 (listed in census).
I have tried every trick I know to find a family connection in the 1870 census, and have come up short. I'm looking for someone with Putnam Co. experience, and perhaps a connection to this Moore family. Thanks.
John
