Re: possible Ernest Jones?
In Response To: WILLIAMS, ONEIL, TN ()
WWI draft registrations
I posted my entire puzzle to TN Davidson list at rootsweb, and got many responses - but one researcher found this record, and I'd like to know what all of you think about it. To review - my great grandmother Lou - had a number of children - all with different surnames. One - Ernest Jones - located in the 1900 census for Nashville born abt 1880 - month March - is a total mystery. Never heard him mentioned by my grandfather (or my dad) - but then I never heard much anyway about this side of the family. I do remember a curious remark my grandmother made when I was about 10 years old - mentioning my grandfathers family in Kentucky or that he was from Kentucky (which is not true) but I forgot about that remark until now 50 years later. I do remember Kentucky coming up in that one conversation. Please take a look at the actual draft card. What is interesting is the "nearest relative". My great grandmother in 1900 was married by that time to a George Edmondson. By 1910 she had moved to Topeka KS. Though her name was Louise - she was always referred to as Lou - and is listed as Lou even in some census records. The nearest relative for this Ernest Jones - born March 1879 is a Lou in Topeka - but the last name seems to start with E - and could be a distortion of
What say you all? Denise
