I don't know how I missed the Dougherty family in DeKalb County! Good looking out
I will investigate further.

As for William Dougherty in Clarke County, he is a son of Capt. Charles Dougherty of Clarke County and is not the same Wm. who was in Columbia County. Previous census finds the name spelled DORTREY among family HOH's.

I can't tell you anything other than what I know from research about Mary DORTRY because I've never met my paternal family.
According to the census (1900-1910-1930) she was born 1868-1870.
I'm off again looking for her death certificate, as the death record (Mary F. DORTRY, d. 1931 Henry County) turned out to have been her 1 yr. old granddaughter (dau. of David and Julia Grant). Amos died in 1927 and Mary F. was found widowed and living with her daughter Mattie HIGHTOWER in Atlanta.
