My family was emancipated to Champaign County, Ohio in 1854 by a Quaker, George C. Mendenhall. It is believed that his first wife Eliza W Dunn (non Quaker)brought slaves to the marriage. I believe she was either from Virginia or North Carolina. I have not been able to find any records on how she inherited these slaves. Her mother re-married, but I have not been able to find the first husband's estate or his name. Any thoughts or leads?
