Mother and son are nowhere to be found!!!
The 1870 and 1880 Census has me stumbling all over the place looking for my family and the walls are turning from bricks to steel.(Funny, because the streets in the square in downtown Marshall are made of bricks. It makes me think they used them from my brick wall to form their streets and gave me the steel walls) lol
This is what my ancestors have allowed me to see so far.
1900 Census Harrison County:
Taylor Larence head b m May 1835 65 m 21 SC SC SC
Mariah wife b f Jan 1854 46 m 21 1 child 1 living tx Mo Ala
Davis Edward gr son b m Feb 1887 13 s tx tx tx
Living several doors up is Mariah's son Joe P Taylor with wife Frances and children. Census states that Joe P was born in 1865 which would make Mariah only 11 yrs when she had him. Oral history has Larence as Joe P's foster or step father.
Joe P may or may not be born with the Taylor surname.
Census has 21 as age of first marriage for Mariah and Larence
1910 Census Harrison County:
Lawrence Taylor Head m mu 60 m2 44 SC SC SC
Maria wife f mu 60 m 44 1 child 1 living tx US US
Ben Neph m b 18 s
Now this time age for Lawrence is off. If 1900 census is right he should be at least 75. Mariah or Maria may be in ball park. It would make her 56 but then again would that make her have Joe around 1867 instead of 1865? Living several doors up again are JP Taylor and his wife Frances and children.
If all of this is true and the ages are right,Joe and Mariah should be in the 1870 and 1880 census. If not with Lawrence then at least with each other. Take also into consideration that both the 1900 and 1910 census have Mariah/Maria as having only one child.
Lawrence was married before according to the 1910 census. Could not find him in 1870 or 1880. I did find a Lawrence T listed in the 1920 census as a widow age 80 but no Mariah. He was living in another prec. which I found strange, because Joseph and family are still in the same place.
I have not been able to find a DC for Lawrence or Mariah. I do have Joe P/JP/Joseph's DC and it does not have the parents names listed for me to get a maiden name for Mariah/Maria.
Now Mariah knows I am looking for her. In order to confuse her, I am solicting help from you guys. Perhaps another set of eyes or someone that does not have that "ancestrial Taylor scent" that may keep her lurking in the pages of time.
