AfriGeneas Brick Wall Forum

Re: A WALL HAS FALLEN!-- Harris Family-Brick Wall remembered! So cool!! I thought that was you! (smile). Well, I'm back in Phoenix, but was in Houston for 5 yrs...and that is significant, because it was in Houston where I learned of the famous "Clayton Library" and when my first "Brick Wall" fell down....that's where I found gg Lucy Westmoreland...looking through all that microfiche!, I was definitely doing the "Happy Dance" then...those folks in the library had to "shhhhsh" me down, and remind me that I was in a library. (smile). I've been following Afrigeneas for quite some time...there's just no words to describe how priceless this website is for the great work that all of you do. I also have to thank several of my "Sandifer" connectins/cousins because they have shared so much info and records from the Sandifer side. But of particular relevance to my discovery connecting Gilbert to my own grandmother and her siblings, Hattie and Jim, is the earlier post on this forum from another Sandifer connection, who essentially protested my earlier post/theory that Gilbert was much so, that she drove all the way from Georgia to Quitman County, MS to make sure there was no connection. I don't think she knew about or bothered to check the Educable Children's List. In fact of greatest relevance in the Sandifer family is "their" known fact that Gilbert DID NOT father any children by his two White wifes...Sarah and Maggie...that part is true...but as clearly known in my family, he did father three (and possibly more) of my gg Lucy's fact, after my grandmother was born, Lucy had two more children "Nathaniel" and "Maggie"--Maggie of course was the nickname of Gilbert's last wife...amazing stuff. Unfortunately these two younger children...allegedly died after 1910. grandmother Pearl's photo is posted in the Photos forum as can we connect her to me and move her to the "identified" grouping? Pearl Westmoreland is her name. PS. So good to reconnect again. :>)
