I'm looking for records to confirm my gg-uncle's parents. He was born in 1844, lived in Virgina, then moved and married in North Carolina in 1876. Halifax County, North Carolina recorded the marriage. However, they don't have the names of the bride and grooms parents. Somehow the recordings were destroyed. My uncle died in 1901, NC did not record deaths until 1908. I've searched Freedman Bank records, military records, and church records. Is there anything that I'm missing to confirm who his parents are? This brick wall is driving me crazy! Any assistance is appreciated.
