Re: ALTEMUS family ~ Plaquemine LA
In Response To: Re: ALTEMUS family ~ Plaquemine LA ()
I am certain I finally found Kisiah and Mary on the 1910 Plaquemine, Iberville Ward 3 census. Yay!! Although sadly, Thomas is not listed. It's okay, though.
Kisiah and Mary are listed as follows:
Kisia Johnson age 42 b abt 1868 M1 22years bp LA father bp VA mother bp VA
Mary Johnson age 23 b abt 1887 Single bp LA father bp VA mother pb LA
My Kisiah on the 1900 census birthdate is abt 1870, married 12 years bp LA father bp VA mother bp VA. And her daughter Mary birthdate is abt 1886. It would make sense that she would be married 22 years by 1910. And since her marital status was not "widowed", I can only assume Thomas may have been away at the time the census was taken.
I believe the reason I could not find her was because the spelling of the first name when doing a search on FamilySearch was Hesea, but I stumbled upon the census on Heritage Quest while looking for a different relative and after looking at several pages, there it was! When I pulled up the census and viewed it closely, the spelling was in fact Kisia. And the year of births match very, very closely. It is also spelled Kisia on Ancestry.com. So, I am positive this is my relative.
I am thrilled and glad to be making progress.
