Again, don't rule out newspapers for his time. Perhaps there was mention of immigrant arrival from Ireland to that area. Or just plain mention of the family for their arrival. I suggest you talk to Tom Pinnick on the Newspaper Forum and perhaps he can tell what resources are available for the area you are researching.
