Re: What Does Deed Tell Me?
In Response To: What Does Deed Tell Me?
() The typed deed is giving you a lot of names and some marital relationships. It should also give you a description of the property and history of previous deeds. W. R. Briggs is a descendant of the family that owned the Village View plantation duing the Civil War. A small portion of that plantation exists today as a historic house, http://www.greensvillecountyva.gov/locality%20information/village_view.htm. It is likely that the property purchased by your ancestors from W. R. Briggs was in the Village View area which is in the LowGround Road area of Emporia. W. R. Briggs is mentioned on some deeds of my ancestors who lived in Greensville County. I also have lot of Robinsons who lived in the county and some of your names looked famaliar, however, I checked my family tree file and the names of the spouses don't match the ones in my tree. My Robinson's lived in the Skippers area of Greensville County and attended Antioch Baptist church. Many of them are buried in the Robinson Family Cemetery adjacent to the church.
