I suggest that you get in touch with Stuart Doyle who has written a book about 15 black families from Greensville, Sussex and Southampton counties and how they are interrelated. Mary Cooke b. 1899 from Greensville is in the book. She married Emmett Doyle. Not sure there is a connection, but with the families from these 3 counties, there usually is.

Also, if you obtained your deed from Greensville County, you may also want to check Sussex and Southampton as well. Many times folks filled papers in all 3 counties so there may be additional info there.
