Bass surnamed folks from VA/NC show up in Ohio as early as 1830 in the German Twp. Darke County area as early as 1830. There was a very significant early AA settlement in this area named Long/Longtown. And there are any number of Bass & Chavis of various spellings descendants in the Miami Valley area of Ohio.
