I have looked a little bit at this and have found nothing so far.

Here are a few questions:
Where is R. M. in 1880? I can't find him in Cass County.

Also the tax records, do they specify more details about where in Cass County he lived?

And his son Herbert, would he be living with Mary in 1910? Is Mary alive in 1910? I did not find any marriage for her between her divorce and 1910.

And lastly: Do you know the parents of R. M.? Are they alive in 1900?
