I have enjoyed reading this discussion and analysis. I realize that Elijah is your main focus but, I do have a question about the boy Alfred age 17, who appears along with the family in 1845. What if anything do you know about him? Is he Isham's son from a previous relationship? Does he appear in any other record near this family after emancipation?
