I would like to believe that children under the age of 5 were never sold without their mothers, but we all know that chattel slavery was quite inhumane. I am sure many small children were sold away from their parents. Maybe, in some cases, they were sold to an owner who had other female slaves who could take care of them.

Yes, I personally would add Isham and Eliza to my family tree. Many times, we will never find that one document that we need to give us the definite answer, and we have to rely on a "preponderance of evidence," as long as the evidence is pretty strong.
