Here's my Tuesday morning thoughts...LOL.

I thought the movie was typical 'Movie of the Week/period costume' fare. Edit it down and take out a few scenes; it could be presented on ABC/CBS/NBC. The performances by the cast, in general, ranged from workmanlike to quite good. In retrospect, this was not 'must-see' TV.

As historical fiction capable of raising our consciousness(es) about that time, it could have done more.

Having said that; I'm at the beginning of reading the book. I'm looking for history, not titillation. This will be my first Anne Rice novel and I'm certain she's a better writer than an executive producer for a movie.

It'll be interesting and fun to discuss the novel and compare it to 'Cane River'.
