Hi K! I read the article in yesterday's San Francisco Chronicle (front page.) I, for one have to say, 'I never purchased a book because it was featured in her Book Club.' I have watched interviews with different authors that she had featured, but, never purchased because they were on her show. She said '(quoted by Daniel Halpern, editorial director of Ecco Press, an imprint of Harper Collins,) books worth sharing had become harder to find. Wow! I thought that was a rather hard statement for *now and future hoping to be* authors. Actually, I was kind of upset when I got my copy of Cane River with her name on the cover 'Oprah's Book Club.' I saw the interview she had with Ms. Tademy, but still, that didn't make me buy the book, it was the great reviews I saw on Afrigeneas.

Oh yes, I almost forgot to tell you..I read 'redemption song' in one day, and I received 'Their Eyes Were Watching God' on Friday, and it was so good, I didn't want to finish, so, I put it down (half way through,) but, picked it up again that evening and finished it. The more I read, the more I understood the writing, I told myself 'this must be the way I speak!' Anyway, it's the best book I have read in a very long time. I will always consider it a favorite, I will not lend it out! And, I didn't hear about it from 'Oprah.' (smile). Afrigeneas Book Club....Don't you ever go away!!!
