Here I am in Mauritius, presently re-reading Roots. I am 62 now and I first read the book about 25 years ago. I am re-reading Roots because I am presently working on my family's genealogy ( they arrived in Mauritius from India in 1859) and I will read any other work treating seriously on ancestry search, written by black or white writers.
I feel sorry for people 'reseaching' on whether Haley's work was fact or false. You know, somebody said 'You are as great as the things that annoy you'. The anti-Haley people do not bother me.
