"So often, in our haste to blame 'Europeans' for our ancestors' ills, we forget to look at the history of the times."
When I read your introductory statement, it reminded me of a past discussion with a group of folk in which someone said, "Some folk love to 'blame' white folk for our problems." To me, the use of the word "blame" suggests that, in some way, we may be wrong in relaying certain historical facts, and at the same time, we may be choosing to overlook some of the things we've done that may have aided to our downfall. Your words "in our haste" seems to really suggest that even more. I really don't know how to better explain my thoughts when it comes to that word "blame", but whenever someone injects that word into their statements, it implies that there's an issue with acknowledging certain facts. Dave explained it best in his response to your post.
It's late...that's the best that I can do in explaining myself.
