Has anyone grown up with any 'superstitions' or old wives' tales that possibly can be traced back to Africa and even to a specific part of Africa?

My aunt describes how she was passed over her grandmother's dead body because her grandmother loved her and would want to come back and play with her. I don't know if this is African, English, Indian or simply local.
