Re: Immigration to Liberia
In Response To: Immigration to Liberia
() I just got this idea concerning Liberia, and the people who settled in Monrovia from the U.S.A. First of all we are all doing our research, and wonder has it ever dawn on people that when we are looking for folks and find that they are not in our researc that just maybe many of them did end up going to Monrovia as well? Now that should be some research there, to find out who actually went to Monrovia. Just like here within the US. Migrations from one place to another was often the thing especially before the Civil War. I will point out the fact in some cases such as German immigrants who came to Pa. in the 1700s; later migrating to the South because they had lots of land to plow and so forth; yet as the 1840s came about some of them migrated through Kentucky and towards Southern Illinois; even after the Civil War they migrated to areas. Take Brazil for instance, guess what group of folks during and after the Civil War fled there. Joseph
