I did look through the online records but could not find any mention of a runaway, or other information, that might relate to your ancestor. Moreover, I could not find any mention of Catoctin Furnace at all. The online records are all from the Pennsylvania Gazette and Pennsylvania Packet, a newspaper circulated widely and which contained runaway notices from regions throughout the Mid-Atlantic and Chesapeake.

To me, this absence of material simply suggests that the Johnsons, or managers of Catoctin Furnace, did not advertise in the Gazette. If you ever get the chance to go through issues of any newspaper of the period from the Frederick area, I'm sure something of interest will be found.
